Anna Koster clinches Girl’s Singles U-17 title at 2012 Canterbury Under 17&13 Championships
Anna Koster, a talented young shutter from New Zealand, showed her incredible craft in the court and clinched Girl’s Singles U-17 title after thrashing her higher ranked compatriot Jade Selen in the final battle of 2012 Canterbury Under 17&13 Championships
at Christchurch, New Zealand, on Sunday, June 10.
Koster, who was positioned at number two in Girl’s Singles draw of the championship, continued her impressive winning run in the title match of the tournament and overpowered her higher ranked Selen who was top seeded shuttler in the draw.
The lower ranked Koster entertained the crowd with her incredible play in the court and remained successful in finishing off the battle in straight games with a huge margin on the score board.
In the meanwhile, the top seeded Selen failed to prove her worth in the final contest as she could not continue her positive play and eventually bowed down to her lower ranked compatriot without winning any set.
The in-form Koster opened her campaign in an attacking and composed manner as she played with impressive precision and managed to take advantage by setting up an incredible lead on the score board until the mid-game interval.
On the other hand, Selen failed to stop the aggressive run of her lower ranked team-mate and remained struggling in the court to place her shots in right areas.
After the break, Koster continued her positive and killing run in the court as she did not spare any chance for her higher ranked compatriot and bagged the opening set with a wonderful easy by a spectacular margin of 21-14.
In the second game, Koster again showed her class as she took a tremendous lead in opening points and maintained her commanding position in the court until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, Koster remained fully focused and made her higher ranked challenger to work hard for every point.
The second seeded Koster was dictating the pace of rallies with her impressive skills and managed to clinch the second game with a huge margin of 21-12.
Koster emerged as the title winner as she thrashed her compatriot in the final fight with a staggering difference of 21-14 and 21-12.
