Anna Mikkelsen on leading podium in Women fleet of 2012 European Juvenile Europa Class Championships
Spectators present to watch their favourite sailors in action witnessed some tremendous sailing display on the third day of the 2012 European Juvenile Europa Class Championships. The event was organised and hosted by Fraglia Vela Riva and produced some tremendous
sailing competitions on the racing area.
In the Women fleet of the regatta, Sweden’s Anna Mikkelsen put in a good performance and retained her top spot in the overall standings of the fleet. The Swedish sailor was outstanding on the waters throughout the third day proceedings and proved her class
with impressive finishes.
She started her day with a fourth finish in the first of three scheduled races. After that, she breezed into two bullet positions in the next two races to keep her leading podium place with nine points. She hit the first place from the start of the regatta
when she grabbed two bullets along with a second and a third finish.
Her compatriot, Julia Carlsson also retained her second podium place with 13 points. She claimed a bullet and a second place at the end of the third day proceedings.
The weather conditions on the racing area were quite ideal for perfect sailing because the winds were quite strong that helped the participants complete their scheduled races on time. The breeze was gusting around up to 16 knots after the fleet started the
first race.
