Anna Stephens earns Girl’s 100 yard breast-stroke title: 2011 High School State Championships
East Grand Rapids’ Anna Stephens splashed hard during the 2011 High School State Championships held from November 18-19, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Stephens went on to win the Girl’s 100 yard breast-stroke title.
Anna Stephens of East Grand Rapids was up against her strongest challengers of the puddle, as Stephens continued her winning form throughout the race and knocked the finishing hurdle in a triumphant mark of 1 minute and 05.75 seconds to seal the Girl’s 100
yard breast-stroke meet.
Meanwhile, Jorgie Watson of Grand Rapids Catholic Central earned second place honours by thrashing the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute and 07.04 seconds and Madelyn Klenk of Hamilton High School pocked bronze medal in a mark of 1 minute and 07.21 seconds,
respectively.
In addition, Rachel Waite of Tecumseh High School secured fourth position by knocking the finishing divider in a blot of 1 minute and 07.90 seconds and Maggie Pyett of Detroit Country Day settled at fifth place in a time of 1 minute and 08.14 seconds.
Lydia Gleason of Spring Lake High School earned sixth place honours by thrashing the finishing hurdle in a time of 1 minute and 09.19 seconds and Maya Kerr of Marshall High School was placed seventh spot in a mark of 1 minute and 09.21 seconds. Last, but
not the least, the eighth place went to Melody Kaiser of Oscoda High School in a time of 1 minute and 09.53 seconds.
The Girl’s 100 yard breast-stroke B final heat was notched by Hailey Sambor of Bloomfield Hills Lahser in a winning mark of 1 minute and 08.58 seconds. In the meantime, Elizabeth Vande Wege of Hamilton High School earned second place in a time of 1 minute
and 08.64 seconds and Hannah Schroeder of DeWitt High School was placed third by clicking the finishing hurdle in a time of 1 minute and 09.57 seconds.
Additionally, Blair Cornell of Plainwell High School earned fourth spot in a time of 1 minute and 09.73 seconds and Emily Lundquist of East Grand Rapids settled at fifth spot in a mark of 1 minute and 11.20 seconds.
