Anna Sztankovics claims Girls 100m breaststroke gold – European Junior Swimming Championships
Anna Sztankovics of Hungary claimed gold medal of the Girls 100m breaststroke on fifth day of the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships in Antwerp, Belgium on Sunday, July 8.
The Hungarian swimmer dictated terms to her opponents in the double lap discipline as she showed her urgency towards the finishing end and snared old gold medal of the event.
Her laudable efforts placed her one body length ahead of her opponents as she clocked a timing of 1 minute and 08.43 seconds.
The champion was chased by Margarethe Hummel of Germany, who stayed 0.90 seconds apart and sprinted her way towards the finishing end for silver medal with an effort of 1 minute and 09.33 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Julia Willers of Germany, who remained 0.69 seconds behind and reached the medal rostrum for bronze medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 10.02 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Molly Renshaw of Great Britain, who was only 0.10 seconds slower and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 10.12 seconds.
Renshaw was chased by Anna Belousova of Russia, who stayed 0.32 seconds behind and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 10.44 seconds for fifth position.
Similarly, Belousova was trailed by Sophie Taylor of Great Britain, who was only 0.01 seconds slower from upsetting her foregoing finisher and clocked a time of 1 minute and 10.45 seconds for sixth position.
The British swimmer was chased by Anastasiya Malyavina of Ukraine, who stayed nearly 0.80 seconds slower from her former finisher and ended seventh in the event by producing a time of 1 minute and 11.28 seconds.
Finally, the arena witnessed sluggish efforts of her team-member, Viktoriya Kunenko, who failed to overpower any of her challengers in the event. Kunenko stayed 0.58 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and ended eighth in the discipline by clocking
a time of 1 minute and 11.86 seconds.
In addition, Sztankovics expressed contentment over her accomplishment and articulated that she will train harder to excel at the superior levels of swimming.
