Anna Sztankovics shines in Debrecen - Hungarian Long Course Nationals 2011
Anna Sztankovics dominated proceedings as she won the Women’s 50m breast-stroke title at the Hungarian Long Course Nationals 2011 in Debrecen, Hungary, on June 23, 2011.
Sztankovics picked up the top seed in the Women’s 50m breast-stroke with a sterling time of 32.42 seconds and improved to top spot in the world rankings of the current year. Evelyn Verraszto ended her swim second in a time of 32.68 seconds and Eszter Bucz
rounded out the top three in 33.68 seconds.
The Women’s 50m breast-stroke race was a very intriguing battle between Sztankovics and Verraszto, but Anna won the match with a close margin of 0.26 seconds. After the race, Sztankovics was stunned with her performance and said that she will go into the
World Championships with more confidence now.
Meanwhile, the Women’s 100m freestyle saw Agnes Mutina wound up first in the respective meet with a winning time of 55.36 seconds. Evelyn Verraszto touched the finishing wall in a time of 55.99 seconds, while Eszter Dara ended her swim third with a time
of 57.00 seconds.
The Women’s 200m butterfly event was clinched by Boglarka Kapas with a winning time 2 minutes and 12.47 seconds. Placed second in the respective meet was Diana Ambrus with a time of 2 minutes and 14.20 seconds, while Anett Kovacs settled third in 2 minutes
and 15.78 seconds.
Earlier, Laszlo Cseh won the Men’s 100m butterfly event with a sterling time of 51.98 seconds. He also won the Men’s 200m freestyle title with a winning time of 1 minute and 50.36 seconds.  Additionally, he claimed the Men’s 50m back-stroke race after he
touched the finishing wall in a time of 26.12 seconds.
Kis snatched the Men’s 800m freestyle crown with a sterling time of 7 minutes and 55.30 seconds, while Jakabos grabbed the Women’s 400m IM title in a time of 4 minutes and 40.79 seconds.
The crowd enjoyed the scintillating swims of all competitors in the event and more can be expected as the meet proceeds in the Hungarian city of Debrecen.
