Anna Tatishvili squeaks past Vanda Lukacs to enter quarters – Budapest Grand Prix 2012

Georgian rising star, Anna Tatishvili, crushed the local teenager, Vanda Lukacs, with a breadstick at the Budapest Grand Prix 2012 on Wednesday. She nudged up a 6-1, 6-2 success against the world number 980 to breeze into the final eight at this WTA (Women’s
Tennis Association) International-level event taking place in Budapest, Hungary.
Tatishvili took down the Hungarian youngster in less than hour-long venture in their first meeting. As a result, the Georgian not only took lead in the head-to-head series by 1-0 against Lukacs but also secured a place in the quarter-finals.
The Florida resident enthusiastically entered the Hungarian clay courts and held her serve in the opening game. After Lukacs slid her serve in the second game, Tatishvili unleashed stroke out the proceeding five-games in a row and pocketed the breadstick.
She was never threatened with any barrier and converted two out of five break opportunities to her advantage.
Ranked 81st in the WTA Premier Rankings, Tatishvili kept momentum sailing into the second set and earned the desiderated break in the opening game to jump to a 2-0 lead. Despite levelling the scores at 2-2, the Georgian blasted flat groundstrokes
to stroke out the last four games successively. She warded off one out of two breakpoints she came across and capitalised on three out of five break opportunities to clinch the set with a 6-2 score line.
All in all, the 22-year-old took full advantage of eight double faults and several errors Lukacs committed. Tatishvili clobbered a higher first serve share of 76 per cent in contrast with the Hungarian’s 43 per cent and acceptably availed 24 out of 35 points
on it.
Up next for the Georgian is the Canadian blooming star, Aleksandra Wozniak, who made  a spectacular come back to triumph over Alexandra Cadantu. She reeled off last 12 games in a row to formulate a 6-7(2), 6-0, 6-0 victory in two hours.
The top seed, Sara Errani, will accompany the Georgian in the quarter-finals. She overpowered Melinda Czink in a tipsy-turvy three setter to advance at this event. The Italian star broke her rival’s serve four times to manipulate a 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 score line.
