Anna Thea Madsen tames Julie Davidson to bag Women’s Singles title at Danish Junior Cup 2012
Denmark’s young and passionate shuttler Anna Thea Madsen proved her superiority on court as she claimed Women’s Singles title after taming her team-mate Julie Davidson in the final match of Danish Junior Cup 2012 on Sunday, October 14, in Denmark.
The talented Anna, who was placed at number one position in Women’s Singles main draw of the championship, played with tremendous precision throughout the tournament and continued her smooth sailing in the final too and overpowered Julie in a smashing way.
Anna was in smashing form in the final battle when she impressed her home crowd by putting up staggering show of top class badminton.
The higher ranked Anna remained successful in winning the final match in straight sets with a comfortable margin on the board.
On the other hand, the fifth seeded Julie could not produce competitive form in the ending points of both sets as she failed to execute her shots in right areas and lost the contest without taking any set in just 38 minutes.
It was a fantastic fight in opening set when both Danish ladies played to their maximum potential and managed to stay close at the starting rallies.
However, Anna showed a great performance and started to create a difference on score board by employing her hard-to-return smashes on side lines of the court and remained in commanding position until the end of first half.
After the one-minute interval, the top seeded Anna remained on track and continued her smooth sailing on court without showing any mercy to her rival and eventually won the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
In the following set, Julie tried to put up strong show and remained successful to some extent as she stayed close on score board until the end of first half.
The in-form Anna geared up her speed in the concluding phase of second set as she played fast and aggressive badminton and won the set with a comfortable difference of 21-16.
Anna emerged as victorious in a dominating fashion as she ended up the final clash in straight sets by a convincing 21-17 and 21-16 score on the board.
