Anna Tunnicliffe hits top seat of ISAF World Match Racing Rankings – Sailing News
America’s Anna Tunnicliffe and the crew, comprising of Deborah Capozzi and Molly O'bryan Vandemoer, performed brilliantly in the previous World Match Racing circuit and was able to hit the top place in the overall Women ISAF World Match Racing Rankings.
The US team earned 11549 points to claim the World Number one spot of the Women Match Racing leader-board.
The American sailors performed outstandingly in the circuit clinching some important regatta victories. In the first half of the circuit, the team campaigned in Top 3 positions, mostly second, and remained consistent.
The only lower place they grabbed was 10th in the 2010 ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship.
After that, they started collecting bullets in the second half of the circuit and moved up in the standings. The first achievement of the US team was their top position in the 2011 Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships. They earned 2100 points in this
regatta which played an important role in their campaign afterwards.
Winning the World Championship gave a superb boost to the team’s skills and they were able to produce fireworks in the 2011 Skandia Sail For Gold Regatta, 2011 The Buddy Melges Challenge, 2011 Santa Maria Cup, 2012 Trofeo SAR Princess Sofia MAPFRE, and the
2012 Semaine Olympique Francaise de Voile.
First podium place in all these events was enough for Anna Tunnicliffe and her team to claim the overall top position of the ISAF Women Match Racing Rankings.
