Anna or Annabelle? For a girl?

Question

it's for a blonde-brown hair colored girl [that came out funny xD] with hazel eyes, she's shy but sometimes outgoing w/ people she likes.

i'm thinking anna but it may be too ordinary but annabelle may be too old fashioned and TOO shy.

and i dont like annabell or annabel or anabel or whatever. xD

Also, where's the location the story will be based??...If the southern USA, annabelle is perfect...New york City, Anna is better..

Annabelle is lovely with so many nickname possibilities. Who cares that Annabelle is old fashion? I love older names. Better to have an older name then yet another Madison, Addison, etc who are confused what gender they are, because their parents gave them a boy's name.

They're both nice names but I'd choose Anna.

Anna will be an easier name for her to remember and to spell when she starts at school and wont be mispelled by people when she has to give her name.

Also it wont get abbreviated to "belle" etc.

Anna is a more "versatile" name as it will grow with her, it suits a baby, child and a grown woman too but Annabelle sounds a bit childish to me and wouldn't suit an adult quite as well.

I don't think Anna is ordinary at all either, we nearly called our daughter that but chose Amber instead.  I'm in the UK and Amber is quite unusual here.

I like writing and I find that sometimes finding names for characters is hard too :D

I think that Annabelle is just fine and not old fashioned at all! She doesn't have to be called Annabelle all the time anyway, Anna could be used for short or just as a nick-name by other characters.
