Anna wins fourth stage as Alexandra takes overall lead in 2011 Tour de Bretagne Feminin
Russian national team’s Anna Potokina won the fourth and final stage of 2011 Tour de Bretagne Feminin on Sunday, July 17. Alexandra Burchenkova maintained her overall leader jersey.
The race started in Plouha and ended in Yffiniac. Anna took a total of 3 hours, 1 minute and 43 seconds to cover the distance of 110.1 kilometres.
Aude Biannic of Bretagne was the runner-up with 7 seconds behind Anna, while Elena Utrobina of Russian national finished third with a difference of 25 seconds.
The race leader, Alexandra Burchenkova, was in 20th place, ahead of Rebecca Talen and Yulia lliynikh.
Nina Kessler (Dolmans Landscaping Team), Jacquelyn Crowell (US National Team) and Dorte Lohse Rasmussen (Team OCK Ladies) were in fourth, fifth and sixth places, respectively.
Coryn Rivera (US National Team) was in good form and tried her best to take the other 38 leading cyclists, but failed to maintain her pace and grabbed the 42nd place with a difference of 1 minute and 1 seconds ahead of Kendall Ryan (USA) and Karen Verhestraeten
(Sengers Ladies cycling).
A total of 12 cyclists, Inge Alaerts (Wielerclub de Sprinters Malderen), Beata Sandstrom (Team OCK Ladies), Stephanie Viel (Ile de France) and Evelyn Arys (Sengers Ladies Cycling Team) were disqualified from the race.
The second and third stage winner, Rhae-Christie Shaw of Canadian National Team was unable to hold her victory and grabbed the 23rd spot, ahead of Dunja Ceulemanas.
Mascha Pijnenborg (Dolmans Landscaping Team) took overall King of Mountain title with 31 points. Michelle Lauge Jensen (OCK Ladies) was in the second spot with 28 points and Veronique Fortin (Canadian National team) was in third place with 24 points.
Aude Biannic of the Bretagne team was leading in the Young rider classification with 10 hours, 23 minutes and 25 seconds. Thalita De Jong was the runner-up with 2 seconds and Ashley James was in the third position with 58 seconds behind Aude.
The Russian rider, Alexandra, took the overall lead with a timing of 10 hours, 21 minutes and 4 seconds. Karol-Ann Canuel was in the second spot with 28 seconds behind Russian. Rhae-Christie Shaw grabbed the third place with a difference of 1 minute and
2 seconds.
