Annagraz Bonsanti clinches Women’s 1500m freestyle gold: Day four – Venezuela Open Championships
Annagraz Bonsanti of EMIL clinched gold medal of the Women’s 1500m freestyle in the 14 and above category on fourth day of the Venezuela Open Championships in Maracaibo on May 20.
The 17-year-old Bonsanti stayed prominently ahead of her subsequent challenger from the start of the event. With her astonishing efforts, she enjoyed a comfortable lead over her challengers and cruised her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
Her immaculate effort remained significantly faster from her strongest challenger as she hit the finishing end with the timing of 17 minutes and 41.39 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Florencia Melo of UCVMI, who remained nearly six seconds apart and transpired on the finishing blockade for silver medal by producing a time of 17 minutes and 47.76 seconds.
Third spot of the event was secured by Paola Perez of TIBTA, who stayed nearly nineteen seconds slower and ended her pace in a time of 18 minutes and 06.79 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Isabella Paez of EMIL, who was almost six seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 18 minutes and 12.14 seconds.
In the meantime, Carlos Claverie of LAUVI dominated the playoff of Men’s 200m breaststroke in the similar age group.
The 16-year-old Claverie enjoyed a lead of almost five seconds over his closest swimmer and proved his mettle for gold medal of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 19.23 seconds.
The champion was followed by Kenek Gil of MAXVI, who stayed nearly five seconds apart and posted a time of 2 minutes and 24.03 seconds for silver medal.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Hugo Araya of UCVMI, who was 2.37 seconds apart and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 26.40 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Marco Guarente of CIVMI, who finished fourth in the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 27.19 seconds.
In addition, the position holder received medals and accolades for their furious efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the tournament after the session.
