Annagrazia Bonsanti seizes Women’s 400m freestyle gold: Day one – Venezuela Open Championships
Annagrazia Bonsanti of EMIL seized gold medal of the Women’s 400m freestyle in the 14 and Over category on primary day of the Venezuela Open Championships in Maracaibo on May 17.
The 17-year-old Bonsanti faced tough competition from her opponents throughout the mediocre-distance event but with her utter determination, she succeeded in securing her spot on the medal rostrum for gold medal.
With her invincible efforts, she enjoyed a lead of almost one body length over her strongest competitor and proved her mettle for the title of the event by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 27.77 seconds.
She was followed by Florencia Melo of UCVMI, who stayed almost a second behind and hit the finishing wall for second position by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 28.54 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Angela Cicenia of CIVMI, who stayed almost four seconds slower from her and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder by producing a time of 4 minutes and 32.91 seconds.
Subsequently, fourth spot of the discipline was secured by Eugenia Sebastiani of EMIL, who was 0.36 seconds slower emerged on the finishing wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 33.27 seconds.
Sebastiani was chased by her team-member, Astrid Iturbe, who stayed nearly 0.75 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing wall as fifth best finisher with an effort of 4 minutes and 34.02 seconds.
With her tremendous pace, Iturbe was followed by Anneliese Riess of CIVMI, who remained 3.66 seconds apart and posted a time of 4 minutes and 37.68 seconds.
The 16-year-old Riess was chased by Eugenia Soarez of EMIL, who was 0.12 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing wall as seventh best finisher with the timing of 4 minutes and 37.80 seconds.
Eighth best spot of the event was obtained by Carla Padron of UCVMI, who stayed 1.88 seconds apart and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 39.68 seconds.
In addition, the crowd applauded for forceful efforts of all participants in the 400m discipline at the medal ceremony of the championship.
