Anne’s Beauty to run on turf for the third time ever in the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Stakes
The 3-year-old filly Anne’s Beauty will be going back on Woodbine turf after her comfy 2 length win over Honey Chile in the Duchess Stakes on 30 July, 2011, over 7 furlongs and captured the winning time of 1 minute and 22.83 seconds.
After running on the Woodbine synthetic surface, Anne’s Beauty has been recalled to run in the Grade 3 $150,000 Ontario Colleen Stakes at Woodbine grass on 27 August, 2011.
The Woodbine feature race for 3-year-old fillies have reeled in 10 rivals to contest at 1 mile over the Woodbine grass track.
Trained by Paul Attard, 3-year old Anne’s Beauty has gone on to twice on the Woodbine grass, and she knows the track which could help her go around in a better way.
However, she has disappointed each time on turf. Her first opportunity came in the maiden stakes she had to run at Woodbine on grass. She couldn’t break her maiden in the first attempt as she rolled in third.
Her second try at the turf was in an Allowance claimer under jockey David Clark. The pair took on the distance of 1 1/16 miles against 3-year-old and above fillies on 11 June, 2011, but was the first filly to wilt as the pair finished 5th. The
winning time for the race was 1 minute and 41.08 seconds.
The daughter of Artie Schiller broke her maiden on dirt and has done exceptionally well over Woodbine Poly Track. She has started on synthetic surface thrice and finishing on the money each time.
Anne’s Beauty will be up against 9 other rivals, but there will be two contenders coming out of the Grade 3 Virginia Oaks on 16 July, 2011, Summer Savory, who narrowly missed the opportunity to land he Grade 3 event as her late surge from behind was not
enough to beat excited.
The filly missed by half a length, and Smart Strike filly, Smart Sting will be contesting in the Ontario Colleen as well.
Smart Sting ran in fourth in the Virginia Oaks and got beaten by 1 ¾ lengths.  Both of these fillies have won twice on grass, and they will pose a daunting challenge for Paul Attard trained filly Anne’s Beauty.
