Anne’s Beauty wins Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Stakes for trainer Paul Attard - Her very first turf win
The three-year-old bay filly Anne’s Beauty, achieved her very first turf win for trainer Paul Attard when she presented a marvelous hit in the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Stakes, held on the 27th of August, 2011.
This Canadian Thoroughbred race is scheduled every year in the month of August, the race is organized at the Woodbine Race Track, which is situated in Toronto Ontario.
The first Ontario Colleen Stakes was held in the year 1999. This year the title winner is Anne’s Beauty, daughter of 2005 Grade 1 Breeder’s Cup Mile champion, Artie Schiller, out of mare Lucky Streak. Anne’s Beauty scored really well for her victory.
The filly not only won the purse for his trainer, but she also played a major role in jockey Patrick Husband’s fifth victory that day.
She has already achieved two prestigious victories previously in the Woodbine Race Track. Last year she was lucky enough to win the Glorious Song and in July she gave a hit and achieved the Duchess.
The young filly with a swift race covered the 8 furlong distance in the total time of 1 minute and 33.70 seconds, and won the purse of $91,683 for owner Robert Smithen.
Daughter of Smart Strike out of Prefect Sting, Smart Sting, with amazing speed was right behind Anne’s Beauty, but she managed to finish second with a distance of 1 ¾ lengths.
Summer Savory, who was also Smart Sting’s contender in the Grade 3 Virginia Oaks, finished sixth in the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Stakes.
Throughout the Stakes race, Menocino Beano was near the winner Anne’s Beauty, but the three-year-old dark bay filly, under jockey Luis Contreras, finished third in the race.
The filly, who finished fourth in the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Stakes, was trainer John P. Terranova II’s My Redbyrd. The three-year-old bay filly, under jockey Tyler Pizarro, tried very hard to perform well.
Even though he raced quite amazingly in the early pace, that did not work out for her.
Following My Redbyrd was trainer Mark R. Frostad’s Poof Too, who under jockey Omar Moreno stood fifth in the race.
Ten horses were participating in the Grade 3 race, among them were Embarr, My Perfect Ten, Heavenly Pride, Our Lady In Red and Hoi An, who finished seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth.
The total prize money for Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Stakes is $150,000 out of which Anne’s Beauty earned the major share, owner Robert Smithen’s filly was bred by Richard Forbush and Doug Oliver at Kentucky.
The young filly paid the total amount of $ 10.90, $ 5.80 and $ 4.40 by carrying 118 pounds. She has eight winnings out of her total starts up till now, according to that her total earning is $ 353,559.
