Annie Chandler wins Women’s 50m breast-stroke title – 2011 Paris Open Swimming Championships
Annie Chandler of USA secured the gold medal of the Women’s 50m breast-stroke category on the second day of the 2011 Paris Open Championships.
The Paris Open is an international swim meet, which aims to provide a chance to swimmers, who seek to prepare themselves for the upcoming battle of the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, this July.
Chandler won the hearts of arena by presenting a beautiful swim of 30.89 seconds in front of the arena. Her tremendous swim made her undisputed in the 50m breast-stroke discipline, where she overwhelmed her following swimmers and won the title of the event.
She was followed by Germany’s Caroline Ruhnau, who appeared as the second fastest swimmer on the finishing wall, by clocking a superb time of 31.01 seconds. Ruhnau edged out her closest competitor and team-member, Laura Simon, with a difference of only 0.28
seconds. Simon occupied the bronze medal of the event, by touching the wall in a third best time of 31.29 seconds.
Monies Nijhuis of Netherlands was the fourth fastest swimmer to touch the wall, as she stayed only 0.04 seconds away from the bronze medallist and clocked a time of 31.33 seconds. Simon’s team-member, Dorothea Brandt, was the fifth fastest swimmer to conclude
her swim, as she posted a spectacular time of 31.62 seconds.
Petra Chocova of Czech Republic emerged as the sixth fastest swimmer on the finishing wall, as she completed her swim in a time of 31.93 seconds. With her brilliant swimming efforts, Chocova successfully out-touched out her team-member, Martina Moravcikova,
who finished her swim in the seventh fastest place, by producing a time of 33.26 seconds. She was followed by Eva Scieszko of Pologne, who was only 0.10 seconds behind and ended her swim in the eight place in a time of 33.36 seconds.
Chandler enjoyed her victory in the short distance breast-stroke meet and expressed that she is looking forward to defend her titles at the upcoming international event in China.
