Annika & Friends golf tournament to be played from May 12-13
Annika Sorenstam is going to grace Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, as she is gearing up to play the Annika & Friends celebrity golf tournament slated to be played from May 12-13.
According to the details, there will also be a concert after the match and analysts have said that this is going to be a good opportunity for Sorenstam to polish her game before the big events coming up ahead.
Despite how Sorenstam is going to improve her game through this match, the cause of the tournament is different than the conventional events.
The 41-year-old Swedish star said while speaking to the media that the inaugural Annika & Friends is being conducted for a noble cause.
Moreover, she asserted that this is the right time that all the players should come forward and promote golf.
Sorenstam, who is also an LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Hall of Famer, said that the main objective for the event is to raise awareness regarding children’s education and life.
Sorenstam is running an entity that is devoted to uplifting children’s life by providing them with proper education.
Her foundation is also working on health issue related to kids in different parts of the country.
Shedding light on her programme, Sorenstam said she wants "to foster awareness for my Foundation's work while raising sorely needed funds to support our children's programs and to implement quality physical education programs in northwest Florida elementary
schools".
She went on to say that she faces the need of heavy funds and she is hopeful that the event will manage to reel in enough money to keep her Foundation’s affairs running.
She told that all the income from the tournament will be used to fund her Foundation’s programmes.
Sorenstam’s Foundation has carried out several projects since its launch. The focus of most of her programmes has been on health issues.
She said that providing good nutritious and fitness education to growing kids has been the centrepiece of her programmes.
In addition to the match, there will also be a celebrity event at Raven Golf Club. Moreover, the Swede has also arranged a dinner party and a wine tasting reception in an effort to spice up the entire programme.
