Guess they thought they could sneak that one by the media, didn't they? Unfortunately, to some extent, it worked. The right is so good at this. Should we really let the haughty Palin off the hook this easy?

They are good at it, they where waiting for the right time. If rumors didn't fly would we ever really know? And no I'm not picking on the girl my heart goes out to her, with having a parent who is more concerned for herself. No wonder shes pregnant.

For one thing, they reported it shortly after the announcement of Palin as running mate.

But, yes, politicians will alway try to put negative stuff up at a time that it gets less attention, & positive stuff up at a time when it gets more attention

Don't worry, more dirt will surface on Palin and her family.  The Vice President role is very important and she isn't going to attain this position without fighting for it. That means going through the wringer

I bet there are some republican politicians that are pissed at McCain for selecting her when there were more experienced candidates available. They will be looking at ways to indirectly undermine her to steal her future job.

As for the democrats, Well I think Obama can't openly criticise her or people wont vote for him.  Obama know doubt will have other democrats within his party assigned to expose her past.

I'm not here to say anything bad about Palin's daughter.  She made a mistake and it's up to her how she wants to handle her pregnancy.

But, on the other hand, this DOES reflect on Palin's values.  The pro-lifers and conservatives will say that this is good because it backs up her pro-life stance and shows that she is a real family woman.

However, I think it's horrible because Palin is saying that her 17 year old will marry the boy (yes BOY because they are children) who got her pregnant.  WHAT?!  She is SEVENTEEN!  No 17 year old should get married just because they are having a baby.  This is backwards and old fashioned.  If they are truly in love let them wait several years and grow as people before they make such a huge commitment.  

Also, this shows that conservative abstinence only thinking does not work.  If teens want to have s*x, they will.  I highly doubt that Palin's daughter felt comfortable coming to her conservative mother asking for birth control or guidence about how to have safe s*x.  

The goal should be to prevent pregnancies before they happen by good education.

Well, Obama's mom got pregnant at 17 by a married man who already had a child. It is hard to top that.

They didn't want to announce it in the first place.  It's not their fault some at Kos accused them of a cover-up of Bristol being Trig's mother.  They had to release the info to squash the rumor.
