Annoying ants!!! Please help!!?

So we moved into a new place and the landlord put in a new air conditioner. Since then we have had ants! They are so annoying and basically stay in the kitchen. I hate creepy crawly things and want to get rid of them! We bought those traps things and they are not working. I'm afraid to cook or eat anything from our kitchen afraid ants will be on it. PLEASE HELP!!!

Diatomaceous earth, available at home improvement and garden centers, is a non-toxic, safe substance made up from crushed fossils of freshwater organisms and marine life. Crushed to a fine powder and observed through a microscope, the particles resemble bits of broken glass. Deadly to any insect and completely harmless to animals, fish, fowl or food. Most insects have a waxy outer shell covering their bodies. Diatomaceous earth products scratch through this shell causing the insect to dehydrate leading to eventual death.

Sprinkle some at any possible points of entry and your problem should resolve itself fairly quickly.

I heard they really hate chalk; it makes them sneeze or something. Or Borax. And I know they hate a nice trail of gasoline but that can get a little dangerous.

any areas in the house you have seen them, wipe that area with a basic water and bleach solution. this will get rid of the trail of chemical that they secrete. find a good outside spray for ants at your local home store. follow the directions and only spray on the outside. not in the house... they are an outdoor insect.. only come inside for water.. trust that this will work..
