Annoying little kittens

Okay, here's the scoop.

My cat had kittens about 6 weeks ago, and the babies are just now leaving the "nest", well box... the problem is, the little buggers are attracted my moving anything! I cant sweep my floors without atleast one of them looking like a dust bunny. There are five in total, and im having a very hard time keeping my marbles, because one of them is VERY vocal. whenever he is in with mom, feeding, hes fine, but when he wants to explore, everyone in the house knows about it. He literally meows every second. We give him attention, we pat him, we even thought that maybe he was lost and wanted mama, but when he was put back in with everyone else, he runs back out! He is under our feet, clawing up legs, and raising heck. Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to settle him down?? I would love to get some sleep.

  1. start them on solids.  they will sleep better and be a lot quieter.

  2. I have a huge problem with this.  And a couple of questions:  Why didn't you have your cat fixed?  The only good pet owner is a responsible one.  Now instead of having 1 animal, you now have 6.  If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

And second, why did you get an animal that you know nothing about?

Kittens do this; that's why so many people let their cats have kittens.  It's what they DO!

I think you need to find a good book on cat ownership, and learn more about them so that these kittens grow to be incredible cats and have a better chance at a good life.

I bred Siamese cats years ago and quit the practice due to overpopulation.  My mother taught me everything I needed to know, so when I did decide to breed them, I knew the challenges and could handle the responsibility well.

Taking care of kittens is one of the most rewarding and challenging things I know of.

And you don't "settle down" kittens anyway.  Who would want to?

  3. That's what kittens do.

At 6 weeks old they need to have solid food.  Weening begins at 4 weeks old, forcing mom to keep being the only provider will put a terrible strain on her.

Get them all fixed and you'll never have to deal with this again.

We found a pregnant girl and hers were nutty when they were big enough, but I treasured those days because it should be the only time in my life I'm ever around teeny tiny kittens because I always spay and neuter.  They were only calm when they were sleeping.

  4. I really hate sarcastic answers but.... It's what babies do, have you ever had any sort children or small animals in your house? It's how they behave. They will grow out of it though. Personally I think it's adorable. lol :D

  5. now you know why they have invented nuetering and spaying. The babies are just trying to learn .your lucky they have'nt killed the furniture yet., their going to run around and rull the house for a while. Thats just cats. But enjoy them cause they will make you laugh,

  6. its a kitten. it just wants to explore and likes to hear its meow. lots of cats meow for no reason bcuz they just like to hear their own meow.

  7. Rule #1... when owning kittens and cats... If it's not nailed down, it's a toy.

Rule #2... when 2 or more kittens... it's going to be a veritable mew-fest.

  8. Blaze him out, bro. Straight to the dome.

  9. I didn't read any annoyance or sarcasm in your question, by the way. My cat bugs me when he attacks whatever I'm trying to clean or follows me around everywhere. Yes, it's cute, but it gets old when you need to get sh*t done!

My advice, and I say this without having tried it on my cat... Bach Rescue Remedy. They sell it at health food stores. You just put a drop in their water or let them l**k a drop off your finger. It's all natural and can't hurt them. I bought some today and put a drop in my kitten's water, but I don't know yet if it works. It's worth a try to calm down my kitty.

However... they are kittens. Enjoy the playfulness now as much as you can without losing your marbles because when they get older or you find homes for them, you'll miss kitten-hood. They don't do these things intentionally to annoy you. They're just being curious.

  10. I envy you having baby kitties I have vowed not to have any baby kitties to help control the pet population, I wish others would too.   I say babies, they need attention, so until they grow up.. its what the days will be like.. sorry

  11. ye i have 2 that im keeping and i had 5 kittens 3 went last week, they are now 8 1/2 weeks,

I have the same problems if i move i get clawed and when i sweep the broom and duster gets it! Oh and they dart for the back door.

But thats what kittens do, as for the loud one maybe he isnt etting enough solid food. Are they on solids yet? Thats the only thing that comes to mind.
