Question:

Annoying neighboor?

I spend the night at my boyfriends house at least 4 times a week and park my car on the curb in front of his house. Bcuz the house is in a cul-de-sac, the curb in front of his house is super small and there is hardly room for one car, so sometimes my car gets parked closer to his neighboors house.

Without reason, a few weeks ago, they left me a note asking me to park closer to my bf's house. I mentioned it to my bf and he says they're weird, just ignore them.

So I started parking closer to my bf's house.

Last night, i was unable to because someone else parked in front of his house, so i parked in front of the neighbor's house. Not "IN FRONT", more like at the edge of their yard, closer to my bf's house. We went out, came home and went to bed.

This morning at 6 am, his stupid neighbor's wake us up, because my car is parked near their house and is blocking them from putting out their trash cans! Granted there is at least 1.5 car lenght's behind my car! Giving them plenty...

  1. It depends where you live.  Some towns/cities will tow cars from in front of private residences.  Others will not.  If you're concerned, I'd check with the city and/or police department and see what their policy is.

I would also give serious consideration to parking in your BFs driveway, if at all possible.

  2. When the neighbor comes out to yell at you kick him in his cul-de-sac :)

  3. Is there enough room on bf"s front lawn I drive all over mine no damage is done. unless its real wet. I would talk to the zoning officer in your town get the real scoop then confront the people politely, see what happens, then do as sawman says kick em in the cul-de-sac

  4. You might have to play musical cars, but the only way to get along with neighbors like that is to park both cars in your boyfriend's driveway, at least for a few weeks. See if the neighbors find something else to complain about. If they do, then park your car anywhere you want because they will never be happy with what goes on in cul de sac.............

  5. It is most likely a public street.  If they have room to put out their trash cans, then they shouldn't be complaining. I would have given them an earful waking me up at 6 AM.

  6. Just ignore them.

They don't own the curb, its public property. As long as your not parked in their driveway there's nothing they can do.

  7. That sounds so frustrating!

To be on the safe side you may want to contact the city to find out what the rules are. If they give you trouble again, you could always just play dumb. i.e.: I don't understand, the city says I can park here.

Try not to let it bother you. I know it's hard, I would be sooo sooo frustrated if someone was like that towards me, but I also know that I don't really want to give them more time than they're worth.

You're already doing what you can to park in front of their house. If it drives you crazy you could always park down the block or in front of another neighbor's house to avoid the strife of this conflict.

I know it sucks to give in to these temper tantrums, but in the end, you will not succeed in educating these people as they have little respect for you. Move on and place your energy in the right place, like enjoying your time with your boyfriend while you're there.
