Annual Winter Classic Event even more closer to be cancelled -NHL Update
The annual National Hockey League (NHL) Winter Classic is definitely a special event for all hockey diehards and unfortunately for them, the highly anticipated games between some of the best in the world of hockey, is even closer to being cancelled as authorities
have reportedly began thinking about taking action if a lockout persists.
According to a report by mlive.com, if a new labour deal in not in place by as early as November of this year, the NHL will have no choice but to cancel it and go ahead with the lockout.
January 1, 2013, was decided to be the date for the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs to go head-to-head with each other and has been termed to be a move by the NHL to decreases any sort of chances the Players’ Association might have at manipulating
them into agreeing on their proposed terms and conditions.
The Winter Classic is never just an event but is a whole weekend of enjoyment for the sport which is gaining rapid popularity. Fans from all over the world come and attend a number of spectacular functions including the minor leagues along with alumni games
of both clubs.
When contacted, the Detroit Red Wings have still termed the time to be too young to determine and make predictions already and nothing can be said until November actually does approach and the situation is still the same as it is today, which is also very
likely.
To kick of next year, the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs were expected to be playing a dramatic matchup of the decade in front of a 110,000-plus crowd, which is said to be a record amount, and would certainly become a precedent for all future
events. Both Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings hold a high place in the NHL for their history in the league and this event was definitely one of the most looked forward to by fans in recent years.
Updates on the issues should be expected in the coming weeks as many term it to be a high possibility, while others downplay the entire idea.
