surley they can not just bring this into place and expect us to follow it, and if we dont we loose our jobs, i have been there 14yrs and never herd of such a thing, and the company is in the uk

  1. Your question is somewhat confusing.

    The title makes the statement that you always make sure that there is cover when you go on holiday, BUT in the text you appear to be saying that your employer is implementing this because it IS NOT in place.

    Please explain your enquiry so that we can understand what you want to know.

There is no reason why your employer can not bring in this sensible policy.  It is a very common policy in the UK.  Remember you are all paid to provide some service / tasks....your customers (whether internal or external) won't be impressed with "sorry, you can't get x 'cos the whole team is on holiday"

    Any already approved holidays would have to be honoured without threat of losing jobs, but any new holidays can be expected to follow the new policy.

  3. You're old enough to have worked for 14 years and cant spell surely, lose and heard?
