Question:

Annual train tickets?

Anyone have any ideas on the cheapest way to buy your annual season ticket?

I need to travel from Billericay (outside London) to Prince Albert (Docklands, Zone 3 though I will be travelling through 4,5 & 6 to get there)

I don't know how it works, is there one specific place I have to buy the ticket or can I shop around? I notice that the Docklands Light Rail do one for £928.00, and that means I would have to buy an additional ticket from Billericay to Stratford, - but notice you can get a travelcard Annaul ticket that will cover everything at once.

Found it a bit hard to find the prices of these last two though.

eeekk so confused!

  1. Billericay is outside the Transport for London zones. It seems to me that you could buy an annual season on c2c from Billericay to Upminster, which is just inside Zone 6. then an annual Travelcard for Zones 3 to 6. You would need to either change at Upminster on to a District Line train, or better (if this is possible) at Barking or West Ham. At the latter station you can catch a Jubilee line underground to Canning Town, one stop, where you can catch a DLR train to Prince Regent or Royal Albert. There isn't a 'Prince Albert' station on the DLR. Go to this page on the TfL site:- http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/default.as... which gives details of both what tickets are available and where you can buy them from. Your Billericay/Upminster ticket would have to be brought at Billericay station.

The other alternative is a season from Billericay to West Ham then an annual travel card for Zone 3 only which would cover your Underground/DLR travel. You will have to enquire as to the relative costs

  2. Suggest you go into a ticket office and ask them... go on two seperate occassions for two end results if they are the same then you know they are right if there is a difference you could complain and maybe as a result they may offer you some discount?  Just a thought.
