Annunciation to battle out the Norfolk Stakes with Ahern at the Ascot
Racing the shortest distance of the day are twelve two-year-old runners in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes on Thursday, 21st June at the Ascot over five furlongs. The blink of an eye race is truly amazing and intriguing with just a few seconds deciding the fate of those competing.
With £42,533 prize money at stake, Richard Hannon has entered his two-year-old bay colt for the spectacle today. Proclamation’s colt has raced thrice during the debut season and out of those outings he has triumphed once.
Owned by Middleham Park Racing XXXIX & James Pak, Annunciation kick started the season with a runner up’s position in the Buckley’s Silver Wedding Anniversary Maiden Stakes on 12th May at Haydock over six furlongs.
Successfully clearing the maiden was Euxton Hall who led by 1 ¼ lengths. Luhaif settled third behind the winner while the 15/8 favourite of the race, Barracuda Boy, ended fifth on the track of seven.
Rockburst foaled had his second career outing in the form of Welcome Home Barney Maiden Auction Stakes on 19th May at Doncaster over five furlongs. He settled as the 11/8 favourite runner up after missing the chance by a two lengths’ margin.
Coming at terms with the third position was The Black Jacobin.
The third venture in line had success in store for the two-year-old which presented itself in the form of EBF Davisbakerycaribbean.Com Novice Stakes on 28th May at Windsor over five furlongs.
Winning as the 4/6 favourite of the race he led the runner up, Emirates Echo, by six lengths under the guidance of Richard Hughes.
Notching up to graded race company right after winning a novice stakes reflects volumes about the confidence that the connections have in the young colt. Fourth career race and a third time with Richard Hughes onboard has boosted his chances along with 8/1 odds.
An entry to look out for is Ahern, Dutch Art’s two-year-old chestnut colt out of mare, Petra Nova, he is unbeaten in his single outing of the career.
