Anonymous scouts criticise Baylor University QB and second overall draft pick Robert Griffin III's people skills
Baylor University quarterback, Robert Griffin III is one of the most talented prospects in this April’s drafts and is on course to become the new quarterback for Washington Redskins who had traded up to the second overall pick.
Griffin has had an amazing college career as he led Baylor University to the Texas Bowl in 2010 which was the university’s first postseason game since 1994.
The quarterback was even better in 2011and was awarded the Heisman Trophy Award becoming the first player from the university to receive the trophy.
He has also impressed many scouts and especially the Redskins with his performance at the combine and on Pro-Day but not all scouts are impressed with the young player.
An anonymous scout talking with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Bob McGinn that Griffin’s shortcomings have been overlooked by people.
"Everybody is just assuming because of the Heisman and the socks and all that bs. . . . they are ignoring a lot of bad tape that he's had. I don't think he has vision or pocket feel, which to me are the two most important components of quarterbacking. He's
just running around winging it. He's (Michael) Vick, but not as good a thrower."
That analysis will come as a shock for most draft followers who have heard nothing but praise for Griffin’s ability to talk with people and his wonderful performances at quarterback for Baylor.
Another anonymous scout reached the same conclusion as well and questioned Griffin’s people skills saying that the quarterback does not treat people well.
“He's got a little bit of a selfish streak, too. Everybody was laying on Cam [Newton], but for some reason this guy has become gloves off. He doesn't treat anybody good."
These scouts though are just a small drop among a multitude of others who have all praised Griffin’s interaction with people and his media skills while also being impressed with the quarterback’s performance both in college and at the National Football League
(NFL) combine.
The quarterback ended last year passing for 4,293 yards and passed for 37 touchdowns while throwing just six interceptions.
Griffin also completed 291 passes out of 402 attempts and had a quarterback rating of 189.5.
