Another D-A Converter Question?

What is the "R-2R ladder" for a D-A converter? Is there a circuit diagram for it somewhere that I can be linked to, as well please?

  2. An R2R ladder is a combination of resistors that can be combined using voltage levels of individual bits to power the ladder at different point. THe result is an unique equivalent resistance for each digital bit pattern that forms part of a voltage divider. For each  digital bit pattern you get a unique voltage out put.

    The down side is that the R2R is a parallel interface device.  Each rung of the ladder that can handle a bit requires a connection to a uC output pin  or connection to a serial to paralle shift register chip.
