  1. I have to admit I'm a Tivo fan but I'll try and be open minded.

If your willing to scrap the DVR from Comcast and get a couple of Tivo DVR's you'll be able to do what you want right out of the box.  Tivo allows you to transfer shows between Tivo's and even lets you start watching in the second room right where you left off in the first room.

After you buy the Tivo boxes (anywhere from $60 - $600 depending on features) you'll have to pay $13/month for the first box and $7/month for the second.  I'm not sure how that compares to Comcast pricing but it might be about the same.

    Good Luck!

  2. Most DVRs have multiple outputs on them.  One possible solution would be to get some very long video cables and connect your DVR to the TV in the other room.  You can safely go up to 50 feet without a signal amplifier.  Longer runs will require an amplifier - available at better video or electronics stores.  The only downside here is that the TVs in both rooms would only be able to watch the same thing at the same time.

I don't know if Comcast's DVRs have the ability to stream or transfer shows between DVRs.  You'd have to ask Comcast about that.  Having multiple DVRs would allow you to record more shows, of course, so it may be worth checking out.
