Question:

Another Driving Question – Bus Lanes?

Bus lanes – I see people driving in them all the time – are they doing the wrong thing? I know you can use it for the last 100 metres before a left turn, but there is one in the City where drivers turn right, into one of 2 available lanes – one a normal lane, and one a bus lane. I am so confused. Again, no nasty answers please.

  1. You are correct but...............

Pulling people over created congestion that prevented the smooth traffic flows the lanes are designed to create.

Offenders flouted lane rules because they realized the law could not be enforced. This simply encouraged the more co-operative drivers to follow their bad example.

  2. In UK it is illegal to drive in a Bus Lane although why it isn't monitored more (by cameras) is beyond me.

'No Car Lanes' are different, although it is still illegal to drive a car in one, vans, trucks etc. can.

  3. I live in Canada and they are sometimes HOV lanes as well (high occupancy vehicle) so taxi's and cars with 3+ people are allowed to use them.

If that's not it, then I guess they are just trying to get ahead of traffic or something. Not everyone on the road should have their licence.
