1. under the Eifle tower why do they call it Trocedero??????

  1. The Trocadero was built in the 30's and took the place of the ancient Trocadero which was a bunch of pavilions scattered in garden-decor -

    Modern Trocadero is typically Mussolinian or n**i style - you can find equivalent architectures in Germany and Italy -

    Today the surrounding is nice - and Trocadero gives shelter to Musée de l'Homme and Musée de la Marine

    But why this name which does not sound french - in fact it's spanish and it celebrates a Napoleonian raid against spanish monarchists in Cadix where the  fortress defending the harbour was the "Trocadero" which was destroyed - Spaniards know why they dislike us :

    Le 31 août 1823, le fort du Trocadéro, qui défend le port de Cadix, est enlevé à la baïonnette, à marée basse, par les soldats français qui n'ont pas hésité à se jeter à l'eau. C'est le principal fait de gloire de cette expédition.
