Another Gold for Great Britain as Chris Hoy and company succeeded at the day one of the Olympics Track racing
Philip Hindes, Chris Hoy and Jason Kenny helped Team Great Britain with yet another gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.
Team England completed the race in a competitive time of 0:00:43.065 and restricted its major rivals with Team France and Team Australia securing the second and the third positions respectively.
The trio led their side to bag an important victory against Team France during the event.
Sir Chris Hoy has won Olympics gold previously but winning it in front of the home crowd is definitely of far more importance.
The London medal is his fifth overall Olympics gold with his first win coming at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
He bagged three gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics to tally his total to four including a silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
"This is the most memorable gold medal of my career," Hoy briefed of his fifth medal.
"When I threw my bike at the line and I heard the roar of the crowd, I knew we'd won”.
"I thought my first win in Athens was the most memorable for me but this is by far the greatest win”.
“It's an incredible feeling, the crowd have been fantastic. The whole country has been getting behind the Olympics”.
"We knew it was possible, this didn't just come out of the blue, but we knew if we kept it together, we had to have the best possible race”.
Gregory Bauge, Michael D’Almeida and Kevin Sireau of Team France had to settle for the second spot, losing with a fraction of a second after the failed to match the likes of British riders.
Matthew Glaetzer, Shane Perkins and Scott Sunderland helped Team Australian with the bronze after taking a total time of 0:00:43.377.
On the other hand, Gong Jinjie and Guo Shuang helped Team China to win the Women’s Team Sprint event with Team Great Britain and Team Germany at the second and the third positions.
Victoria Pendleton and Jessica Varnish represented Team England whereas; Kristina Vogel and Miriam Welte rode for Team Germany at the Women’s Team Sprint.
Team Australia, Team Netherlands and Team France occupied the fourth, the fifth and the sixth positions in the respective order.
