I made a post earlier on here:

The career adviser was looking at clearance for what courses are left for a certain university and printed out the list.

It doesn't say LLB apart from LLB (European and international)

The other courses are things like Criminology and Criminology and Law.

Can you still train to be a solicitor or barrister with Criminology and Law, or can just just do that with LLB (hons)?

I'm already studying LLB part time and if I wait until next year to do the LLB full time, then I would finish my part time course the same time anyway so not sure if to just carry on part time, or do what's left full time this year.

  1. You can later train as either a barrister or solicitor with a BA, BSc or LLB. You don't have to do a law degree and depending on your chosen field (patent law for example or intellectual property) that would be the wrong choice.

If a non-law degree you simply undertake a one-year conversion course which packs more law into three terms than most law degree was do in three years.

Your options at degree stage (i.e company law, criminal law or whatever), are all but irrelevant to your career as a lawyer
