Another Marx question, sorry?

I am studying for my sociology exam and am studying Marx. I am almost certainly going to be asked why the "revolution" has not occured in the UK. Is it because of false consciousness and until everyone realises that they are being exploited there will be no revolution? Thanks :)

  2. Partly to do with false consciousness, you could also mention the changes in the class structure, such as the development of the middle classes, embourgeoisement (working class becoming more like the bourgeiosie) and proletarianisation. You could also talk about the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe, maybe about how Britain is meritocratic, according to the New Right and functionalists. You could mention that postmodernists don't believe in the notion of class. I'm sure there's more but I can't really remember because I did my exams nearly three weeks ago now so I've forgotten it all already. Good luck with your exam.
