I was taking OPK's after my lmp which was July 28th...on Monday, Aug. 11th, I had the test and control line similar in color...yet as of yesterday, still no ovulation. I took another OPK today, and the Test line is visibly darker than the control line. Does this mean that I had 2 LH Surges...and should be ovulating soon? If so, when should I bd?

  1. WRONG...Sorry to the Above Poster, but you can have a test line that is ALMOST as dark and it be positive.  It happened to me this month. I missed the "biggest Peak" in my LH surge and caught it on the way down. I know this because I Ovulated the next day. That is why it wasnt quite as dark. But if you now have a darker line...That means Defintiely your LH is at its Peak...so BD like Carzy! Today, tomorrow and just to be safe...the next day too. I agree with the other lady. OPK's are stressful, and they CAN NOT be trusted. They dont work for me at all, but yet I know I ovulate. SO go by Your BBT, although unfortunately you dont get a warning, but at least you know when you will usually ovulate for next month.

  2. Your Lh surge should only show up once and yes you should be ovulating within 24-36 hours so make sure you do your baby dance before on the day and after for the best chance of conceiving!

  3. honestly, OPK's just stressed me out more....i used them for two months then quit. my advice to u... JUST ENJOY s*x AND STOP TRYING SO HARD! that just puts stress on u both, and he won't ejaculate as much with all the baby making pressure. we relaxed, enjoyed s*x, had dinner, drinks, enjoyed life w/ out stress figuring "if it happens, it happens" sure enough, i fell pregnant that month. just listen to your body and have s*x when ever u see that "egg white" cervical mucous, take and record your basal body temperatures. you can log your temperatures on FertilityFriend.com. My adice, dont always talk about with your husband, in fact dont really bring it up, that really takes the pressure off him, and DON'T EVER SAY "ok, it's time, we need to have s*x i'm ovulating" right before s*x!!!! that is a huge mood killer! and u want him to preform his best! good luck to u both...

  4. A positive result is when the test line is as dark or darker than the control line.  So if the test line was almost as dark, it would be considered negative.  The one that you had today would be the positive result.

They are not like pregnancy tests in which ANY line is a positive.  That is what sucks about them.  Sometimes they are difficult to read accurately.

Definitely BD today!  Baby dust to you!

  5. Tracking ovulation can be tricky if you are using kits to determine your ovulation. Ovulation kits can give false results and cause you to miss good opportunities before you ovulate. Ovulation can also change from month to month making it more difficult to track.

Better to start sexual intimacy during your period or directly after and continue every three or four days throughout the month. This way you are sure of having the sperm in place before your egg is released. Sperm can live quite happily for five days within you. Make use of the pre-ejaculate during intimacy as this contains the most potent sperm. With this method there is no confusion, you will increase your chances of conception and you and your partner will not have to feel you are performing on a set schedule. Initially men are quite happy to have s*x all the time, but after a while it begins to seem like a chore to them if you are attempting to have s*x with your partner every other day. Best wishes, G
