My friends are planning a trip up to Alaska to snowboard. I have never done this before and I am extremely excited... But I dont have anything. Im going to rent the board... but I was wondering when they rent the board.... Does that usually include the boots and bindings??? And does anyone know where I can get clothes that are not too expensive for one quick trip??? I live in LA.... Any suggestions will be a big help.... Thanks

  1. yea when you rent they give you ur boots and bindings

  2. yeah, when you rent, you will get the board, bindings and boots.

SInce its near spring, you probably will find some good appreal on sale at the sporting goods store. I usually have on a pair of sweat pants, a pair of snowboarding pants for the bottom, a shirt, track jacket without the hood, underneath a ski bib, then a hoodie over it and a waterproof jacket. DONT WEAR JEANS and dont forget snow gloves and goggles.

  3. bindings are normally included and the boots are normally rented at the same location, but are an extra cost.  i would look online for clothing. you could find some lightly used clothes or some from last season that would be on sale.

  4. When you rent a board it will include bindings and you should be able to get a package from the rental shop including boots as well.  It'd be worth contacting the rental shop in Alaska you plan to use to see if they also rent out goggles and snow pants.  It might save you a few bucks rather than buying pants before you go.

For clothes you don't need to buy anything super expensive or technical, it's easy enough to wear several layers that will do the same thing as expensive garmets and layers are better because then you can easily fine tune how much or little clothing you're wearing.

Take as much non-cotton clothing as you can, and make sure to layer something thin and over top of that something warm like fleece.  Cotton isn't a great idea when you're on the slopes because when it gets damp (from sweat or snow or whatever) it's heavy and doesn't insulate you at all.  Your outer layer should be waterproof and wind proof.  Don't worry about getting a parka because you can just wear jackets and things you already own underneath to give you warmth.

Talk to friends, family, coworkers, whoever and see if they might have some clothes you can borrow!

    Have a blast.
