Another Red Eared Slider Question!!!!?

How can i tell if my Red Eared Slider is under/over weight. I really cant tell and i wanted to know if i am feeding him the right amount. Thanx it would be a great help for a good answerr

  1. It is overweight if it cannot pull itself fully into its shell.

    It is underweight if it feels lighter than a bag of sand the same size would feel.

    A daily portion of food is about the size of the turtle's head. We feed babies daily to about a year old, then slip a day for a couple years, then skip a couple days for most of the rest of their lives.


  2. depends on how big he is.

    if he's a baby feed about as m,any pellets he'll fit in his head. if an adult feed every other day and a variety of chow, veggies and protein

  3. Check where the legs join the body. If you see rolls of fat, cut back on the frequency of feeding. Don't go on the basis of what the turtle thinks. They will eat themselves silly if you let them.
