  1. You'll never run out of ideas/activities with these guide books, which are meant for the child development.

    Check out http://www.montessori-book.com/

  2. I'm not sure what you are asking-but it seems like you're looking for ideas to disprove the hypothesis, "Television and Movies ONLY affect a child's speech!" Not so!!! Children learn from what they see, hear and observe---and they model that behavior.

Albert Bandura/Social Learning Theory --showed that what a child is viewing can lead to more aggressive play. (With the well-known "Bobo Doll" experiment)

I don't know how to formulate the activity, as I'm not sure how you are setting it up---

Notice and discuss how people are treating each other in various shows. Cartoons and many children's movies are filled with acts of aggression. Consider how these shows compare to real life. Ask if this is how you want the world?

This is rather lofty for pre-school--but  it could be brought down to a young child's level...USING PUPPETS, etc. After the different versions of the puppet shows and/or cartoons--engage the children in dialogue. Remember the old "Punch and Judy" puppet play?

Showing a "Power Ranger" type episode WILL affect the play style of many children--as compared to showing something that is calm and kind. Movies, television and videos can promote peace OR aggression...as well as the words they use, dress, play style, interests, and learning about life.

  3. well as i have done psychology i can tell you it is wrong. make two videos one video will have a person playing well with others and sharing and then the people will be given sweets and rewards. the other video will show people fighting and being nasty to each other but still being rewarded. have to groups of kids one to watch each video and then let them play together and watch them. one group will be quite aggressive.

  4. It would help hun if you let us know which two you have done. Circle time is a great activity to do coursework on. Good Luck!!

  5. What about using theorists for a comparative activity-look at Vygotsky-children learn from those around them-they copy and take on board what they see, hear etc-including the media.

Piaget-a child learns in stages and will learn through others.

Behaviourist-skinner (I think) says children learn through what they are told is right and wrong-about what is reinforced in front of them-if they are praised for speaking they will speak, if they are told to be quiet they'll learn not to speak (so much)

Obviously im generalising but hopefully u get the idea! Good Luck

  6. What hypothesis are you trying to disprove?

  7. Ask children to watch a Power Rangers episode then observe them on the playground. You will see a lot of play fighting. Obviously that is effecting more than their speech.

  8. I run a daycare from my home, and the best advice I can give you, is to go to a daycare, and observe the children. With the parents' permission, try this:

After breakfast, show the kids an episode of ninja turtles, or power rangers, or something like that. observe their play (energy, relation to each other) for an hour. after lunch and nap time, show an episode of Dora, backyardigans, little bear, or Franklin (all shows on 'noggin' and it is kind of sad that i know them all by name). look at the difference in the way that they play and interact with each other after watching these two different shows. There will be a big difference.

Not long ago, I had a four year old boy in my daycare, and at home, he watched all kinds of violent movies and movies with adult content. I had to tell his mom not to bring him back due to his vulgar language, and his violence toward others. He had an obsession with hurting infants, and small toddlers. It was really sad. I think that observation in a daycare setting would help you out so much.

  9. well

    Circle time is good

    or Arts and Crafts

get the parents together and have them come and

    do something.

  10. How about how kids learn through play.

    Good luck

  11. What are the first two?
