Ford Focus And Escape Named Among Best Interiors By Ward’s Autoworld Magazine

The 2008 Ford Focus and Ford Escape are competing for “Interior of the Year” honors at the WARD’S Auto Interior Show in Detroit. The Focus is nominated in the “Economy Priced Cars under $16,999” category, and the Escape is doing battle in the “Popular Sized Trucks under $34,999” segment. Peter Horbury, Ford executive director, Design, The Americas, will open the conference with an address dedicated to the evolution of interior design. It seems people are flocking to Ford dealerships all over the U.S. and are trading in their Hondas and Toyotas for a new Ford Focus! It seems the quality of the Focus is now surpassing the Japenise cars. At last! now Americans can spend their money on a U.S. auto and be proud to own one!. How about you? arnt you tierd of the plane bland small cars from overseas?

  1. Winning awards in a corporate sponsored event is pretty meaningless. To the consumer, build quality & reliability are big sellers, and Ford are light years behind the Japanese in this respect.

Kid yourself if you must, but it ain't happening.

  2. ford focus dont stand up to toyota, honda, or even gm.  i heard more problems with ford focus.  i honestly had one ford and it was totally worthless its not even funny.  if ford was so good than it would be number two but its not.  its number 3 to toyota and gm.  every one i know that had ford had problems with it and not worth time or effort.

  3. i agree with the 1st guy, a focus will never be as good as a civic or corolla, yes it has got better over the years but the resale value of it still sucks

  4. I am really not a big fan of the Focus' Styling, it already looks outdated. The one thing that is placing this car on peoples lists is the cheap base price, Microsoft Sync, and cheap parts. With this said, i would most likely never buy a Focus, but I would take it any day over a Civic or Corolla. The Civic is designed too futuristic for my taste. The dashboard is intimidating. The Corolla has always been considered a granny car to me. The fake wood trim, cloth interior, light, dull suspension way really never favored by me. The best car in the class is now the Mazda3, thus said, it is owned by Ford, so I am thinking somewhat American.

PS. The Civic is built in East Liberty Ohio, as well as some plants in Canada. The Corolla is built in Fremont, California. I don't want you to look like a hypocrite, but the previous generation Focus was built in Mexico, new one in Wayne, Michigan.

  5. Well, look who beat the Focus, No Toyota or NO Honda, it was a Chevrolet.

  6. I'm sure Toyota and Honda are shaking in their boots.

Toyota is now the world's sales leader in vehicles and Honda is always in the top 5 in reliability for all of their vehicles (not just 1).

Ford continues to post record losses, outsource their vehicle manufacturing to Mexico, lay off American workers, not update outdated efficiency standards and stay in bed with the UAW.

But hey, I would buy a Ford over a Dodge/Chrysler any day.
