Question:

Another baby/toddler sleep question.?

I am just wondering if anyone has actually had success with getting a baby or toddler to sleep through the night without Ferberizing. Do no-cry methods really work? I'm not looking for advice...please no more! Just curious. A little survey.

1. At what age did your baby/toddler sleep through the night most of the time (I mean from time you put them to sleep until morning, not the 5 or 6 hour nonsense they call sleeping through the night.)

2. What method did you use?

  1. my daughter was about 6 months old sleeping right through. bed at 8 and up at 6/7.

i didnt use a method, i didnt hold her till she fell asleep as an infant. always just layed her down awake and she would fall asleep on her own. she was also on 3 solid meals a day and off formula at 6 months.

  2. My oldest we let sleep in our room waaay too long. At about 18 mos. we put her in her own room. She cried for 3 hours straight for 2 days.

The next 3, we just put in their own rooms at 2 months and they have been sleeping ever since.

I know you don't want advice, I am just going to give you my personal opinion. I think the no cry methods don't work, because the child needs to learn to self soothe. I think that teaches them how to deal with things as they get older also. My kids are pretty independent. I think if you coddle them, they expect it. They have to know you are in charge.
