    Liter is the unit of volume

    Meter is the unit of length.

    Gram is the unit of mass.

    A graduated cylinder gives you the volume.

    A balance gives you the mass of something.

  6. I hate to be pedantic but a Balance does not measure mass, it measures weight.

    Try using a Balance in outer space - it will record nothing but the object will have the same mass!
