I am a taller Outside Fighter type at my gym and I've been thinking about experimenting with two combinations. I want you to tell me which one you think would be more practical.

The first combination is to throw a lot of Jabs at an opponent to get him used to blocking it, and then bending down and throwing a Jab to the body and shooting back up with a Cross. Simply put:

Jab, Body Jab, Cross

I want to know if this is a practical combination against a shorter fighter and if the chances of being countered are great.

The last combination is throwing Jabs to set up the combo, and hooking off the Jab and throwing a Right Uppercut, Left Head Hook, Right Uppercut

So basically: Jab, Left Head Hook, Right Uppercut, Left Head Hook, Right Uppercut, move out

I want to know if this is a practical combination against a shorter fighter and if the chances of being countered are great, just like the last combo. 10 points to the best answer, thanks!

  1. Neither. Jab, jab, jab, straight right. Just like Holmes and Pavlic. Basic, and never fails.

    Hope it helps.

  2. Definitely the first one.

  3. last one... try this one

    jab head

    jab body

    right hook head

    left hook body

    right hook head

    left hook head

    finish with powerful right uppercut..

your opponent wont see any of the punches coming.

  4. your not a real boxer are you????

  5. Whenever I thought that far ahead in my combos, I found that usually my sparring partner wouldn't capitulate.  Instead of standing there and letting me pound on him, he'd be so unsporting as to duck, or even counter.

Never thought further than jab, jab/cross.

Sorry if this isn't much of an answer...but if anyone tried a 5 punch combo on me more than twice, I'd generally clock the opponent.

  6. The first Combo is not good as you never lower your self down to a shorter fighter as it only makes you a better target. As for the second combo now that is nearly impossible to condition your mind and body to do.Just too much to attempt, just a waste of a lot of energy. If you indeed are a fighter which i must question by your question then my advice is use your height and move around and keep sticking your opponet untill you see opening's to throw other combo's such as left hook's and  straight right hands and the best combo the old one two....
