My mind wandered again, I saw a video on the brain.

It was saying how some people actually eat very minimal calories to the point where there almost to the brink of starvation mode but not quite. See, the theory of doing this was, When your body was in that mode, it uses less energy to function properly on. Therefore somewhat preserving a decent amount of energy (remember i said they weren't quite in starvation safety mode so they still has somewhat extra energy to store.) Within doing this, they believed to extend there human life. Do you think this is healthy? To me it seems like a very slippery slope, and if you don't know exactly the amount to eat, you could eventually develop a eating disorder.

P.S it even had a few dietitians (excuse my spelling) who were doing this.

  2. no... if you think about doing this... don´t, instead work out, if extends your life even MORE than that because it makes your body stronger

  3. You're right.  it makes no sence at all.

"When your body was in that mode, it uses less energy to function properly on. Therefore somewhat preserving a decent amount of energy"

The body uses less energy because it is RECEIVING less energy to use.  All it's doing is saving FAT just in case it stops getting food completely. Then it has something to live off of for a little while.  So to use that extra energy at the end of your life you would have to stop eating and go into starvation mode.  So you'd have to know when you're getting close to the end of you're life.  Otherwise the stored fat will just hang on the tiny bit of muscle you have forever since the body doesn't need it yet because it's still getting a decent amount of energy, remember?  And the fat you have stored wouldn't even last you a year. An overweight person who stopped eating would live longer.    You'd die.  tired.  hungry.  and weak.  Probably from heart failure. But you'll most likely end up in the hospital before then.   You have a better chance of eating normally and kept alive by doctors on you're death bed.

And besides, while you live your life this way, you get really tired and you don't really want to do anything, exercise becomes a huge chore.  And if you don't exercise you're left with very little muscle.  The body might not be starving yet but damage is still done.  Hair gets thin, brittle bones, etc.  You get weak.  You're not in safety mode, but you're still giving your body a huge scare.  Life is much more fun to live when you have a bunch of energy from healthy eating and the motivation to do all the things you want to do.  100 years or so is enough for me anyway.

To answer the question:  It could lead to an eating disorder, if the person believes the less they eat the longer they will live or something...but I think they would have to be something much deeper and stronger behind it.
