I want my parents to adopt a child. My mom agrees but my dad's not so interested.. what can I do to change their mind.. My sister and I are good kids and I really want another daughter in the family especially around my age. My sister is leaving next year anyways!

  1. Its up to your dad really.  If you feel so strongly about adoption you should adopt a child when you are their age.

  2. What about an exchange student for company?  It is a big decision to adopt a child...especially an older child...sometimes they come with a lot of baggage and your parents may feel they are getting you two raised and want some "time" to just relax...yet, another age is another stage...it can also be expensive...you did not say why your sister is leaving...I assume college...college is expensive...Good Luck...your loneliness will improve

  3. It's a very personal decision for parents and there are many individual issues to consider.  If one parent is not 100% sure of taking the step then my personal suggestion is to make your desires known and be supportive in what ever decision your parents make.  Ultimately it's their decision, all you can do is support them.

If they decide against adoption then perhaps you would be well served to keep it in mind for yourself once you are older.
