  1. You are normally only prescribed Clomid for a few months.  So, if the first month you ovulate and you don't become pregnant, you will do the same thing you did month 1 during the second month.  If you don't ovulate month one, they will need to up your dosage another 50 mg until you show ovulation.  Then, you will continue on that dose for a few months.

If you don't become pregnant while using Clomid, you may be sent to a RE to do a series of tests to determine the reason for your infertility.

Normally on Clomid, they take your blood to determine if you ovulate and they run a pregnancy test because Clomid is a category X drug (causes birth defects).  Call and see if you need to come in on day 22-24 to do an analysis, take your temp charts with you!  Good luck and lots of baby dust!

  2. Hmmm I wonder why he put you on Clomid if he didn't know what he was doing. That's scary! Find yourself another doctor, hun!

Most women take it for a few months at 50mg from CD5-9 and then reassess. Sometimes the doctor will do something called a 'Clomid Challenge Test' where they take a blood sample on CD3 and 10, and from CD5-9 you take the Clomid. The second test shows the effect of the Clomid, to see if it's actually making a difference. I would ask about that option as it will be covered by your insurance as a 'diagnostic' procedure.
