I know alot of people have been asking questions about high school since it's almost time to go back to school...but i still have questions i need answers too!!!! My best friends are both going to diffrent high schools, and now I'm left with other friends that i don't really get along with as much anymore. I'm desperate to make new friends, but I don't know how because kids these days are much more ruder, and they already have good friends that they will hang out with, and not want to gain more friends. Also, i was just wondering if you choose the people you sit with in class, or do they assign you to a seat? Also, are there such thing as "popular" people in highschool? How do they even become popular? I feel like i'm the only one who feels this way....is there other freshmen who feel the same way i do???

  1. I think you've been watching too many high school movies where the mean high school jocks pick on the "dorks" for 4 years just to make their lives miserable.

Some schools do have the popular cliques: Kids that are involved in activities or sports that win them recognition. Other schools are more laid back.

Why don't you join a club? There you'll likely meet kids that have the same interests as you and might even make some life-long friends.

As for seats, it depends on the individual teacher's preference.

High school is only as good as you make it. If you endeavor to be friendly, genuine and knowledgeable, you should do well in school.

  2. Yes, there are the "popular" kids but they're self-proclaimed and everyone else hates them because the "popular" kids are stuck up.

You can make friends by sharing similar interests. People generally don't reject making new friends. I made more friends during my Junior and Senior year, despite having other friends from middle school and 9th grade.

It depends on the teacher. Most tend to assign seats for Freshman though.

  3. Base off my experience some classes you do get assign seats.

Yes, well at least my high school does have some what popular students. Simply due to sports or school clubs.

  4. i feel the same why but i have people i can kinda hang out with:]

    good luck though

  5. There are cliques in high school, but usually people are really friendly. As long as you're nice to them, they will be nice back.

Most teachers assign seats, which is a great way to get to know new people.

Think about joining a club or after school activity of some sort. If your school puts on a big musical, give it a shot (you can work backstage or try out to be in the chorus). That's a GREAT way to meet lots of new people.

  6. As far as seating that's usually up to the teacher, some assign seats, some allow you sit where you want..

high school is alot like middle school, it's somewhat cliquey.

Once you get started you won't have as much trouble making friends as you think...

Get involved in things, join some clubs, you'll do fine...

  7. I'm not a freshmen,or in high school either, but I would imagine that if there were any groups of students who hang together that each group has a dominant leader who in fact would be the most popular person in that sense, and that there are plenty of those groups in a high school atmosphere, that also includes; Band and it's groups, cheerleaders & Pom Pom, Dancers, Choir,Jocks of all sorts, ROTC,and many more. My advice is to be yourself and treat others the way you want to be treated. Good Luck!
