what are the key angles you look for in conformation of a horse?

i know legs/shoulders are really important, but i have a hard time trying to remember what exactly effects what. like the shoulder effects the gate... but what again is a good shoulder angle? how slopped should it be?

i've been trying to take notes to keep it in mah head, any good ideas for remembering this stuff would help too, thanks!

This forum has some really great conformation links attached. I have yet to come up with an easy way to remember everything but the information is put very simply so its easy to understand.

  2. It's the shoulder and the pastern, and the ideal angle for both is 45 degrees (although I don't think I've ever seen a horse who sloped that much).  The more upright for both, the more choppier and jarring the gaits, and the more sloping, the smoother the gaits.
