Another injury stains UFC, Paul Sass replaced by Nik Lentz at UFC on Fox 2 – UFC News
Over the past month or so, injuries have taken a toll on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as many fighters have been taken out and replaced by fresh faces.
Once such replacement was made on December 26, 2011 when the British mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Paul Sass was pulled out from UFC on Fox 2. The event produced by UFC is scheduled to take place on January 2, 2012.
Saas has been replaced by Nik Lentz who would now face Saas’s opponent Evan Dunham. Lentz’s last fight was at UFC 140 when he lost to Canadian MMA fighter Mark Bocek. UFC fans are also shaken because their favourite fighters would not be showing their skills
in the near future.
The 23-year-old Sass has been undefeated throughout in his MMA career. He had his debut fight in August 2007 and has won twelve straight fights. He made his UFC debut in October 2010 at UFC 120 against Mark Holst. His second fight in the UFC was at UFC Live
event in October 2011 against Michael Johnson.
For Sass, this would have been quite disappointing. He would have been waiting for the event to extend his winning streak but that would not happen for quite some time. The UFC officials confirmed Sass’s exclusion from UFC on Fox 2 on Monday. These injuries
have become a major cause of concern for UFC and MMA fighters. They do take a lot of strain on their bodies throughout their careers. Injuries during training sessions have also become common as these fighters make an effort to prepare themselves for the fight.
With Lentz in the picture as Dunham’s new opponent, the landscape of the lightweight division has been changed at UFC on Fox 2. Dunham faced two straight defeats at UFC 119 in September 2010 and at UFC: Fight for the Troops 2 event in January 2011. These
are the only two losses he faced in his career.
On the other hand, Lentz is a much-experienced fighter than Dunham and some fans would be talking about this fight the moment it was announced by the UFC. With this replacement, it could be that UFC fans can see an exciting fight.
