The career adviser was looking at clearance for what courses are left for a certain university and printed out the list.

It doesn't say LLB apart from LLB (European and international)

The other courses are things like Criminology and Criminology and Law.

Can you still train to be a solicitor or barrister with Criminology and Law, or can just just do that with LLB (hons)?

I'm already studying LLB part time and if I wait until next year to do the LLB full time, then I would finish my part time course the same time anyway so not sure if to just carry on part time, or do what's left full time this year.

  1. You should check what qualification you will definitely finish with with the University. They should be able to clarify any questions you have.

You can only become a solicitor if you have an LLB in Law (In Scotland). A degree in criminology will not be considered if you apply for the diploma in Legal Practice which you need to become a solicitor. You will need an LLB before you can apply for your diploma.

If you are finishing at the same time whther its part time or full time, you would need to decide if you wanted to live the life of a student full time or if you did it part time you could still work and be earning!

I'm assuming that this is for Scotland as I'm unsure if the degree is called an LLB in England. If it is for England just ignore what I've wrote.

  2. The answer above is correct. A LLB is a must, otherwise you will have to take the GDL (transfer course).
