Another photoshop question :P

Question

When you crop a picture, is there any way to make it larger? I have a picture of my friend at the beach and its from far away, so I cropped it to get rid of all the background, but the picture is now really small. Ive heard that resizing just makes it grainy and crappy looking, is there any other way?

Resizing: You can resize the image,but if there isn't enough info in the image, then it won't look very good.

If you are going to resize, use even factors to increase your resolution:

If your image is 300 dpi, scale it to 600dpi, if it is 72dpi, scale it to 144dpi.

How to increase the resolution or resize the  image:

Image Menu>Image Size

In the dialog that pops up, I usually double the resolution.

Make sure resample is checked, and Bicubic resampling is selected in the pull down menu.

Cloning with multiple layers:

Make sure that "Sample all Layers" is selected in the clone brush menu. Other wise, it won't let you clone from one layer to the other.

To fix your crappy low res problem, get closer to your subjects!

There is no way besides resizing. However there is a program that is designed specifically for resizing images. It is often used for macro shots to get very good detail on the smallest parts of the photograph. The manufacturer claims you can increase the size of the image by up to 1,000 times. This would probably work fine for you. It is not cheap though $160. Check out the website. They might have a free trial. It is called Genuine Fractals.

yes in photoshop you can enlarge it go to resize image in the tap at the top not sure witch one it is but its there

I don't think so... I mean making it bigger is actually resizing it.

The clone stamp... Are you alt-clicking/right-clicking (I forget) first, and is there anything on the layer to clone?
