okay so im confused

does the ps3's wifi need an ethernet cable or is the wifi and ethernet cable two different forms of internet?

  1. Those are just two different ways to setup your internet connection. Wi-fi is good, because you don't have to mess around with cables, but wired is faster, more reliable and secure. I'm using a wired connection.


  2. the wi-fi is built in, so all you need is a wireless router.

    the ethernet is the wired way of using the internet. wifi is for when you cant run a wire to the ps3, such as in another room.

  3. 2 different forms.

    The eithernet wire plugs into your actual internet source should you not have a router.  If you have a router, you can just use wifi.  But usually the hard wire provides a faster connection.  

  4. Wifi - Picks up your internet via a wireless router that would be connected to your Modem.

    Ethernet - Physical cable that would connect your PS3 directly to your Modem
