What about taking a bus from Rio to Salvador? Is that possible or is it way too far and too expensive?

About how much money would that cost? Are there any website about the bus system in Brazil?

Thank you!

  1. Definitely, don't go by bus. Flying is the best and smartest option. Go to http://www.voegol.com.br/INT/

and you will find good prices

  2. Yes you can.  I have not done that route with bus but it would take around 15 to 20 hours and probably it would cost around 100 to 130 R$.  I don't know of any bus company web site but once in Rio ask for Rodoviaria (bus terminal), go there and find out, it's easy, not a big deal.

    Good luck.

  3. You can, but its a very long ride and I don´t think its worth the price.

I recently paid R$ 200,00 for a one way flight, so USD 100,00. (check www.voegol.com.br) they are the cheap internal air company, all new planes etc.

The further before you book it (and pay online) the cheaper it is.

I dont know any sites for buses here, but should be some 2 days on a bus, its some 2000Km. And the roads arent always good. I would never do that.

    Here´s a bus company site:http://www.autoviacao1001.com.br/pt/

but I dont think they do that way, they do go around Rio and Sao Paulo a lot.

    You should really check www.buziosonline.com

thats a really nice place to visit and only 2 hours or so from Rio. Or Paraty, thats nice too, but Buzios is more lively and young.

  4. That is a long Bus ride!!!

    1669Kilometers or 1037miles

    Price about 90USD each way!

It will cost you the same to fly Gol:

  5. Hello, I'm going to Salvador de Bahia from Rio also.  The easiest way is to fly there.  Someone recommended www.sidestep.com.  I bought 2 round trip tickets from rio to salvador for $300. Unfortunatley they only take American Express, for international reservations.  I hope this helps.

  6. 30 hours or so by bus.  I don't know why you want to get from Rio to Salvador so badly. The paradise is in between. Think colonial towns, hotel with jacuzzi on 200ft cliff overlooking ocean for $45/night. Not mentioned in any guidebook (maybe Portuguese ones). You can spend the rest of your life exploring what is between Rio and Salvador.
